Thursday, February 20th through Saturday, February 22nd, 2014!

Set up begins Thursday, February 20th  continues all day Friday, February 8th, until the floats are ready and we’re all exhausted!  Tailgating, music, cooking and float decorating in preparation for the big 3-day event!  …and check out the Howling Wolf Saloon on Main Street!

Join the whole community as we celebrate Mardi Gras Nocona Style!  This small but fun-loving town of 3500 people turned out over 65 entries at their Mardi Gras 2013 parade! Beads were everywhere!! Live Cajun Zydeco music filled the air -  the jambalaya and gumbo filled our stomachs – and the joy of Mardi Gras filled our hearts!  This year is going to be even greater!!!!

This is a family friendly fun event with a big parade and lots of beads everywhere, food, music, vendors,  and fun! (It’s all about the beads!!)

Let the Good Times Roll in Nocona!

On Thursday, February 20th, Mardi Gras Nocona Style! kicks off as official tailgating begins at noon at the VFW (sponsored by Red Necks With Paychecks) and lasts all weekend! and ends with the infamous “Pooch Parade” at 5:30pm….dress up your pooch in it’s Mardi Gras finest and enter for a chance to win Best Dressed Pet!  Line up for the Doggie Parade at 5pm at the downtown park.  Prizes!

On Friday, February 21st, Nocona gets in high gear with downtown vendors all day long starting at noon with Cajun music and vendors in the streets of Nocona!  The “ATV Parade” starts at 6pm…the perfect opportunity to get your ATV or golf cart out, decorate it to the hilt, and Cruise Nocona!  Line up for the parade begins at 5:30pm at the VFW.  Music at the VFW starts at 5pm and lasts until 10pm, featuring various artists including David Paine and George Geurin……..and we’re STILL TAILGATING!

On Saturday, February 22nd, the day begins with a pancake breakfast at 7am at the VFW ($5).  Vendors continue downtown with lots of kid-friendly events and cajun music in the streets starting at 10am.  The lineup for the parade begins at 2:30pm at the DQ, and the “Official” Mardi Gras Parade starts at 3:30pm.  This year’s theme is “Trains”, putting our own local spin on this New Orleans extravaganza.  (Call the Chamber if you want to join the parade: 825-5330.)  This is the main event – full of creative and authentic Mardi Gras floats with a Nocona flair!  Cajun food will be served at the Fire Hall after the parade.  Mud Bug Racing will take place at the “V” around 7pm (see it here first!) – and music and dancing continue at the VFW at 9pm with the Randy Brown Band (tickets required).

The streets of Nocona will be full of people, vendors and activities for the whole family!  Tail gate with the town! During the three day event, there will be community members set up all over downtown tailgating to keep the Mardi Gras spirit alive!  We welcome all to join in! Bring your cookers or just come down and enjoy the food and great company!
